Your practice, your device.

Tokiyo works without an account. Your settings and recent collections stay in your browser, while reference images load from their providers.

What your browser remembers

Tokiyo uses local storage to remember recent collections, session settings, appearance preferences, whether you have seen a touch-control hint, and a completed-session count. These are not synced to an account or across devices.

Collection details and preview links are also cached in session storage. The app reuses these cached results for up to an hour before fetching fresh data. Session storage normally clears when you close the tab; local storage remains until you or your browser removes it.

You can remove individual recent collections on the home page, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings to remove saved preferences and cached collections.

Images you choose from your device

Local reference collections are saved in this browser using IndexedDB. Their image files, filenames, and collection names are not uploaded to Tokiyo or its image providers. Local practice links contain a random collection identifier, not the images, and work only in the browser where you saved them.

Delete a local collection from the home page to remove its saved copy. Clearing site data, private browsing, or browser storage cleanup can also remove it. Keep your original files; browser storage is not a backup.

Loading online collections & images

When you search Are.na or import a collection, Tokiyo’s server receives the search text or collection address and requests the results from Are.na or Cosmos. Public collection responses may be cached on the server to make loading faster.

Your browser loads reference images directly from their image hosts, including Pexels, Are.na, and Cosmos. Those hosts receive the connection information needed to serve an image, such as your IP address and browser request headers. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests.

Tokiyo displays references while you draw elsewhere. It does not capture your drawings. Files you explicitly select as local references stay in your browser.

Hosting & measurement

Tokiyo is hosted on Vercel. Hosting infrastructure processes requests to deliver and protect the site, and may retain operational logs containing request information such as visited URLs, timestamps, IP addresses, and errors. Browser-only settings are not a guarantee of anonymous browsing.

Tokiyo uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure visits and understand how people find and use the site. This includes page URLs, referrers, approximate location, and browser and device information. Vercel describes this measurement as aggregated and without third-party cookies. The app does not include advertising trackers; saved preferences use browser storage.

When enabled, PostHog measures page visits, appearance choices, practice starts and endings, and browser errors. It stores a random browser identifier in local storage to recognize return visits. We do not attach names or email addresses. Page URLs sent to PostHog exclude query strings and fragments. Error diagnostics may contain technical details about a failure.

PostHog also records browsing sessions and captures clicks automatically. A session recording is a replay of the pages you were shown and how you moved through them, including clicks, scrolling, navigation, and the reference images on screen at the time. Images you import from your device are shown through a temporary address inside your browser, so they are not uploaded and do not appear in a replay.

See PostHog’s privacy policy for its handling of analytics data.

See Vercel’s Web Analytics data documentation for details about measurement and retention.

For more about the hosting provider’s handling of data, see Vercel’s privacy policy.

Shared links & messages

An online-collection practice link includes the collection and session setup in its URL. Anyone you share it with can see that setup. The URL may also appear in browser history and hosting logs.

If you contact Jordan, your message and the contact details you provide are handled through the email or messaging service you choose. Avoid sending sensitive information in feedback or collection links.
